[vc_row gap=“20″ el_id=“bio“][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=“ABOUT THE ARTIST<\/strong>“ use_theme_fonts=“yes“][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=“2\/3″][vc_column_text]Born in 1983 in the Vend\u00e9e region of western France, trumpeter Alexandre Baty studied with Eric Aubier at the Rueil-Malmaison Music Academy near Paris. He received his first orchestral position as principal trumpeter in 2007 with the Orchester national des Pays de la Loire. In 2008 he accepted a position as principal trumpeter with the Orchester philharmonique de Radio France, in 2009 he held the same position with the Orchester de la Suisse Romande and in 2010 with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra. After an interlude as Principal Trumpet of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam in 2011-2012, he returned to his posts in Paris and Seoul.<\/p>\n

As part of his orchestral activities, he has worked in recent years, e.g. with the conductors Myung-Whun Chung, Mariss Jansons, Valery Gergiev, Gustavo Dudamel, Kurt Masur, Ricardo Muti, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Pierre Boulez and Marek Janowski. One of the highlights of his work as principal trumpeter was his 2015 tour with Andris Nelsons and the Lucerne Festival Orchestra performing Mahler’s Symphony No. 5.<\/p>\n

Alexandre Baty is also an experienced soloist and chamber musician. In 2009 he gained international attention when he won first prize at the International Joseph Haydn Competition for Trumpet in Budapest. The following year he won first prize at the Prague Spring International Competition, and in 2011 he won second prize at the ARD International Music Competition in Munich. Following these successes, he was able to look forward to numerous invitations as a soloist to renowned European orchestras. He is also a member of Brass United, a brass ensemble formed in 2015.<\/p>\n

Alexandre Baty is also a dedicated and successful teacher. In 2013 he founded the Baty Brass Academy in Seoul in conjunction with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, which trains and supports young trumpeters from South Korea. Alexandre Baty is a professor at the Conservatoire National Sup\u00e9rieur de Musique et de Danse in Paris and gives numerous master classes in Europe, Asia and South America.<\/p>\n
